Public Artworks - Segmented Landscape
A magnificent public art sculpture titled Segmented Landscape, created by Jennyfer Stratman was officially presented to the public in July 2007. Ms Stratman said her work, a five-part piece made of fabricated steel and painted cast bronze, draws on ideas of landscape, architecture and human connection.
The concept behind Segmented Landscape was to portray the interconnection humans have with the landscape, both how it impacts our sense of identity and how inextricably linked we are to it. The profile of the segments suggests an undulating mountainscape while the geometry references the architecture of a cityscape.
The steel segments will naturally oxidise to a textured rusty surface and blend with the earthy hues of the surrounding area while the red figures provide a sharp visual contrast.
