Exhibition statement:
The Children’s Tapestry Project by Charmaine Kvalic enables children to work in collaboration to create tapestries, and experience tapestry as an artform.
From the project’s inception of recreating a child’s illustration into tapestry to large-scale collaborative works, this retrospective highlights an ever-growing interest and participation of children in creating tapestries.
Artist biography:
Working in an educational setting has seen Charmaine work collaboratively with children across mediums including painting, sculpture, and tapestry.
More recently, she has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Kate Derum Award for small tapestries at the Australian Tapestry Workshop, South Melbourne.
