Cardinia Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from First Nations artists to create and present an exhibition that highlights local land connections during Reconciliation Week 2025. This is a paid exhibition opportunity to showcase your work at Hills Hub Arts Space, Emerald.
We welcome expressions of interest from artists working in any medium, whether for solo or group exhibition. Artists with a strong connection to Bunurong and Wurundjeri country are especially encouraged to apply. Additionally, those who can demonstrate a connection to Cardinia Shire will be given favourable consideration.
Hills Hub is a venue that focuses on community engagement. Artists with any public program ideas are encouraged to outline those in their application.
Dates
Application closes: Monday, 24 March
Application outcomes: Successful applicant(s) will be notified by Friday, 28 March
Installation: 12 May – 23 May (2 weeks)
Exhibition: 26 May 2025 – 4 July 2025
Deinstallation: 7 July – 17 July (2 weeks)
Hills Hub Art Space
Located on Level 1 of Hills Hub, the Arts Space is a multi-functional room designed to support local artists and creative initiatives in the Hills. This space features approximately 24 metres of hanging space and 20 gallery track mounted lighting fixtures, it also features equipment with capabilities for projection and a soundscape.
Hills Hub is located at 400A Belgrave-Gembrook Rd, Emerald VIC 3782, and is open to visitors Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Hills Hub Art Space Technical Specifications
Fee
An artist fee of $5,000 is paid to the artist in the event of a solo exhibition.
Artist fees will be negotiated in the event of a group exhibition.
Fees will be paid in two installments.
Artist
The artist is responsible for installing and deinstalling the exhibition, with the support of gallery staff. The artist is also be required to submit suitable promotion images ahead of the exhibition install with a complete blurb and updated artist’s bio.
The artist will be supported by the gallery team with curatorial support and exhibition promotion on the relevant websites and socials.
Artists who feel that they could communicate their exhibition idea to a greater extent verbally are encouraged to get in contact directly. This conversation would be facilitated by gallery staff to capture the information asked in the questions below.
