In a busy world, we may find ourselves reaching out to natural spaces.  Each time we visit the coast fringes, rivers and lakes of our vast land, we discover something about place and about ourselves.  The water’s edge draws us into its world and has inspired this exhibition of works. 

By the Water’s Edge tunes into nature’s rhythms, colour, space and skies through the visual language of art.  What develops through this immersion are glimpses to a relationship to nature, place and a reconnection to that quiet place within.  Through the exhibition the viewer is invited to explore these experiences and to see what resonates with them. 

Artist Biography:
Born in Melbourne, Marisa Avano grew up in a family of artists and later studied art and design at Dandenong College of TAFE.     

Marisa is a finalist in national artist prizes including the Alice Prize, Percival Portrait Prize, Gosford, Bay of Fires and Lethbridge Landscape Prize.  Her work forms part of private collections both in Australia and overseas.  She works from her studio in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges.
