This mural is about giving a bit of hope. It Is about letting people know that you are worthy of having your story told, and that your story should continue. Life is a journey, it is full of ups and downs, and although the night is always dark, the sun will shine again upon another day.

The mountains along the ground represent those moments of ups and downs, the gum leaves represent welcoming and belonging on Country, whether you were born here or now call it home, the flowers represent the beautiful landscape we have and all that it provides, as well as new growth, while the river is about finding peace around us and within, with the sun shining down and Bunjil and Waa watching over us on our journey though life.

Sam Richards is a Wurundjeri, Dja Dja Wurrung woman who is passionate about sharing culture through education and art in the public space for all to see, learn and enjoy.

Sam is an established artist, creating works across Melbourne through digital artworks, canvases and murals, utilising traditional and modern iconography to tell stories and share knowledge.
