Exhibition statement:
This group exhibition brings together the culminating work of our VCE Art Making and Exhibiting Year 12 students from Pakenham Secondary College, offering a reflection on the connections between the self and the wider world. These artworks explore deeply personal experiences alongside broader themes of society, culture, identity and change.

Throughout the year, students selected artists who inspire them, guiding the exploration and development of their own ideas. They experimented with ways of communicating these ideas through their own artmaking. This process shaped their choice of materials, techniques, and processes, and encouraged reflection on how best to express their ideas.

These artworks use symbolism to explore deeper meaning, such as depicting Queen Marie Antoinette and malnourished sheep to represent greed and inequality in society. One examines grief shown in facial expressions, emphasising hollow eyes as a focal point. Another reflects on the fragility and innocence of humanity and nature, while another conveys the overwhelming nature of living with obsessive-compulsive thoughts. One reinterprets the story of Prince Hyacinthus, and another uses hair as a symbol to express change, transformation and identity.

Together, these artworks form a collective conversation, a space where individuality meets connection. This exhibition invites reflection on the ties between you, me and us.

Works on display are by artists Kieran James, Axel Liebe, Jamaique Mathieu, Dylan Purvis, Asher Stone, Marshall Sungalis.
